Kidsgrove sign experienced forward from NPL West rivals

Following three-and-a-half years with the Dabbers, the 39-year-old makes the switch across the NPL West Division to Staffordshire.

The decision comes after a fruitful spell with Nantwich, having registered 59 goals and 27 assists in 175 appearances since his arrival in October 2022.

As well as being the club’s top scorer in 2023/24 and receiving the Player of the Season award the following season, he is well-known for scoring in under nine seconds during an FA Cup tie away at Avro - the club’s fastest-ever goal.

Reflecting on the move, Harrison said: "I'd say a new challenge was needed, and I'm happy to be here.

“I spoke to a couple of people who I know at the club, and they really sold it [to me]. You'll be seeing me fighting at the top end of the field, scoring goals and giving my best.”

Nantwich Town chairman Jon Gold also commented on Harrison’s departure, highlighting the huge impact he had on the club.

“Byron is without doubt one of the classiest and most sincere people I have ever met in all my years doing this, a real class act”, Gold said.

“His contribution to our club, both on and off the field, has been immense, and he has the utmost gratitude and respect of everyone at the club and will always be welcome here.

"Luke [Goddard, manager] worked hard to retain Byron and made him a realistic and fair offer within our budget.

"Unfortunately it didn’t meet within Byron’s expectations and it’s his prerogative to sign for another club, and to this end he goes with our very best wishes.”
