Jamie Devitt joins Workington
Workington have announced the signing of Jamie Devitt until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old ex-Football League player has made over 400 appearances for the likes of Hull City, Chesterfield, Morecambe, Carlisle United, Blackpool and Barrow.
An U21 Irish international, Devitt was most recently at Carlisle United for his second spell at Brunton Park, helping the Blues secure promotion to League One.
The attacking midfielder links up with his former Carlisle teammate and current Reds boss Danny Grainger for the duration of the 2023/24 season.
On the move, Devitt said: “I can’t wait to get started. I’ve been speaking to Danny for a few weeks, just to make sure that I’m right with my body and fitness-wise.
“I just can’t wait to get back to playing football again.
“I know a few of the lads from playing against them in pre-season, and some of them are ex-Carlise players so it’s been easy to fit in.”
Workington manager Danny Grainger added: “For me, it’s a huge signing for us. I wanted to bring a high-quality player into the squad and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to do that.
“Once we get him up to speed, he will be a great asset to the squad and provide more competition for a shirt on matchday.”
