Hyde United bolster defence with new arrival
Hyde United have announced that defender Drew Baker has joined the club ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The 21-year-old arrives with EFL experience, having made eight League One appearances for Fleetwood Town during the 2022/23 season, seven of them in the starting 11.
During his time in Lancashire, the former Manchester City academy player was sent out on loan to Ireland, featuring for Bohemians and Waterford FC.
He spent the latter half of 2023/24 with last season’s beaten Northern Premier League play-off finalists Macclesfield following a permanent move from Fleetwood.
There, he made 15 appearances and kept five clean sheets.
Baker arrives to improve an already impressive backline at Hyde United, with the Tigers conceding just 48 league goals last season - the fewest of any team outside of the play-offs, and the fourth-lowest in the entire division.
