Hednesford Town FA Cup tie chosen for BBC coverage

Hednesford Town FA Cup tie chosen for BBC coverage

Hednesford Town's FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie against National League side Gateshead has been selected for live BBC coverage.

The game will take place on Saturday 12 October at Keys Park, with kick-off at 3:30pm.

For the Pitmen, this will be their eighth outing in the competition already this season.

Of all the sides in the draw for this stage of the FA Cup, and given the regionalisation of the draw, Gateshead are the second-highest-ranked side that Hednesford could've faced.

There are currently 81 places separating the NPL West Division outfit and their next opponents in the footballing pyramid.

Gateshead sit fourth in the National League after a positive start to the season, but they are currently on the hunt for a new manager after Rob Elliot and his coaching staff left to join League One side Crawley Town.

Hednesford are the lowest-ranked Northern Premier League side left in this year's competition, with three more Premier Division clubs -Gainsborough Trinity, Guiseley and Macclesfield - joining them in the fourth qualifying round.

Saturday’s game will be available to watch via BBC iPlayer, the red button and BBC Sport website on tablet, phone and desktop, with the winners moving into the first round proper.

The BBC will be providing live coverage at every stage of this season's FA Cup.
