Hednesford Town bring in experienced Step 2 midfielder
Hednesford Town have confirmed the signing of midfielder Sion Spence.
The former Wales U21 international spent time in both the National League North and South last season, featuring for King’s Lynn Town and Havant & Waterlooville.
The former Cardiff City and Crystal Palace youth player enjoyed a memorable loan spell in League Two with Bristol Rovers, making 12 appearances during their promotion-winning campaign in 2021/22.
The midfielder reunites with current Pitmen boss Steve King, who he spent time under at Gloucester City.
Spence becomes the club’s third signing in a matter of days, following on from the arrival of Leek Town forward Rob Stevenson and Rushall Olympic defender Kory Roberts.
On signing Spence, manager Steve King said: “I am absolutely thrilled to get Sion to Keys Park. He was the first player I tried to get when I got the job.
“Goal-scoring central midfielders are at a premium, and I fully expect him to get double figures this season.”
