Hednesford bring in goalkeeper on season-long loan

Hednesford Town have announced the arrival of experienced goalkeeper Jack Rose on a season-long loan from National League side Sutton United.

Rose, 29, started his career at West Brom, rising through the Baggies ranks over four years before making his FA Cup debut for Accrington Stanley, where he kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Notts County.

He subsequently signed for Crawley Town and made his Football League debut at the club before being snapped up by Mauricio Pellegrino's Southampton on a two-year deal.

Later, he went on to establish himself at League Two Walsall, signing a three-year deal with the club and making 31 appearances while acting as understudy to their regular shot-stopper, Carl Rushworth.

Rose has been with Sutton since 2022, making 51 appearances in League Two and a combined 20 appearances in the FA Cup and EFL Trophy.

Pitmen boss Steve King said: "It's no secret that we have been looking to strengthen in the goalkeeping department throughout the summer, and to get Jack over the line is a phenomenal achievement for the club.

"Jack has only ever played at Football League level. I am thrilled to have him onboard.

"Jack brings ability in abundance, a calmness to the side and priceless experience and leadership skills. We are excited to see him here at the club."
