Hanley Town sign ex-Altrincham captain
Hanley Town have turned to former Altrincham captain Jake Moult in their bid to ease relegation fears from the Pitching In NPL West Division.
Moult achieved cult hero status at Alty, making over 450 appearances in total. He spent a decade with the club, having originally joined on loan from Alfreton Town before earning a permanent deal.
During his time at the J Davidson Stadium, Moult played in various positions, skippered the side and even had a brief spell as caretaker manager.
He decided to leave the club at the end of the 2021/22 season when they moved to a full-time playing model, subsequently joining Buxton ahead of their debut season in the National League North.
Most recently, he was part of a Stafford Rangers squad fighting to avoid relegation from the Northern Premier League. However, it was announced earlier this month that Moult had been released.
He could make his home debut for Hanley against NPL West Division leaders Leek Town this weekend.
His new employers sit fourth-bottom but are currently eight points clear of safety, with two games in hand over second-bottom Hednesford Town.
