Hanley Town announce mouth-watering pre-season friendly
NPL West Division side Hanley Town have confirmed a surprise pre-season friendly against League 1 side Wrexham, to be played on Saturday 13 July.
The big-spending Welsh side are expected to bring their full first team and new signings to Potteries Park for a final warm-up game before their pre-season tour in the USA.
Wrexham, co-owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, will travel stateside the day after the fixture has been played.
They currently have games lined up in the US against Bournemouth (July 19), Chelsea (July 24) and Vancouver Whitecaps (July 26).
Taking to social media shortly after the fixture was announced, Hanley confirmed the Welsh side had already sold over half of their allocation within hours of tickets going on sale.
The fixture will see Ryan Shotton’s squad embark on a second home pre-season outing, as they take on National League North side Curzon Ashton on July 9.
Hanley were due to face NWCFL outfit Bury on July 13, but that fixture has now been cancelled to make room for the club’s glamour tie against Football League opposition.
