Goalkeeper changes at Prescot Cables

Prescot Cables have confirmed the signing of Calvin Hare from City of Liverpool, while Andre Mendes has also left the club.

Hare, 30, made 50 appearances for the Purps last season, playing a key role as they reached the Liverpool Senior Cup final and NPL West Division play-off final against his new side, losing out 2-0 to Cables.

A Wigan Athletic academy player, he has a wealth of experience between the sticks from his time at Burscough, AFC Fylde, Droylsden, Witton Albion and Marine.

He will go straight into contention to make his debut for Prescot in their upcoming Liverpool Senior Cup first round fixture at home to Burscough on Tuesday night.

With the arrival of Hare, the club have announced that their current incumbent between the posts, Andre Mendes, will depart to seek opportunities elsewhere.

The 21-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper joined in the summer after a brief stint at FC United of Manchester.

A former Benfica youth player, Mendes featured 16 times in all competitions for the Pesky Bulls, keeping five clean sheets.
