Fowler joins Stockton Town

Stockton Town have confirmed the signing of striker Michael Fowler.

Fowler, who started his career with Sunderland AFC, has spent the last 18 months at Dunston UTS. During his season and a half with the club, he netted 28 goals in the Pitching In NPL East Division, scoring twice against his new employers.

The forward arrived at Dunston following a spell in the USA with Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Before that, he played at Sunderland before moving onto Burnley, where he was a prolific scorer in their youth team.

He already has plenty of non-league experience, having had loan spells at FC United of Manchester, Guiseley and Bamber Bridge.

“I think anyone at this level knows how attractive of a football club Stockton is," Fowler said.

"The standard in football, the ground , the fans and management all play a part in that. The fans can expect to see lots of goals, hard work and ultimately making myself a nuisance to play against.”

On securing Fowler, manager Michael Dunwell said: “We are very excited to have him with us. We have played against him a few times now and he’s always caused us problems and scored goals.

"Our own players have commented on how good he’s been against them. He’s a great finisher and has great movement, he was Dunston’s top scorer last season and has always scored goals and I’m sure he will do the same for us."

He becomes the club's second arrival of the summer, following in the footsteps of fellow forward Michael Sweet.
