Former Hull scholar Sani signs for Trinity

Gainsborough Trinity have completed a deal that sees 19-year-old striker Glen Sani arrive at the Northolme for the 2024/25 season.

Sani spent his youth years at Hull City, before moving to Bridlington Town last season for his first campaign in senior football.

There, he scored seven goals in 38 games, helping his former side avoid relegation in the NPL East Division.

Gainsborough Trinity manager Russ Wilcox believes his new signing is ready for the step up into Step 3.

He said: “Glen has a good pedigree and good upbringing through Hull City’s academy. He’s still got things to learn, but he’s only 19 and we’ll keep working with him.

“He gives us good energy, attitude, application, and gives us good competition for places at the top end of the pitch, which is really important.”

On his arrival at his new club, Sani added: “Pre-season has gone well for me. I’ve felt good, sharp and the gaffer has given me a platform to showcase my abilities which I’m grateful for.

“I like to vary my game and be involved, so I can run in behind and stretch back lines or try to get it to feet and link play. I have an eye for goal as well, which is the main thing being a striker.”

The Holy Blues travel to Ilkeston Town to open their league campaign on August 10, where Sani will be available to make his competitive debut.
