Former captain returns to Runcorn

Runcorn Linnets have announced former captain Peter Wylie has returned to the club ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Wylie had left the Yellows last year to sign for City of Liverpool. He made 44 appearances for his new club last season, and was the club’s highest appearance maker. As well as that, Wylie was also named the club’s Player of the Year.

Before departing the Linnets, Wylie had made 114 appearances after joining in the 2018-19 season from Marine.

He has also represented Blackburn Rovers as a youth player, as well as Skelmersdale United, Marine and Stalybridge Celtic in the National League North.

He will be hoping to help Runcorn go one better next season, having missed out in the play-off final due to an extra-time winner from Workington.
