FC United tie down talented playmaker to new deal

FC United of Manchester have announced that attacking midfielder Aaron Bennett has signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Bennett first arrived at Broadhurst Park in early December after a short spell at National League North side Warrington Town, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions.

Since joining the Reds, the former Preston North End academy graduate has featured five times in total and scored twice, including a late winning goal away at Ashton United on Boxing Day.

Of the four games that Bennett has started since his arrival, three have been wins.

The midfielder becomes the latest key figure to commit their future to the club, following in the footsteps of manager Neil Reynolds, who signed a two-year contract extension last week.

On his decision to stay, Bennett said: "I didn't know how it'd pan out when I first started. I didn't know how long I'd be here for, took the decision and it's turned out to be a good one in the end.

"[The goal against Ashton United] was a good way to start my journey with FC. In recent games, I feel like we've turned a new leaf with the players coming in.

"I'm starting to enjoy my football again, so it was a no-brainer really."

Manager Neil Reynolds said: “Aaron is exactly the sort of player we want to bring in to support the way we want to play football.

"I’ve been really impressed by how he’s adapted to the way of life at FC United. He’s got aspirations to play much higher up the leagues, so I’m delighted he’s committed his immediate future to us."
