Familiar face returns for second spell at Guiseley

Guiseley have confirmed the return of talented full-back John Lufudu ahead of the new season.

Lufudu, 29, was a big hit during his first spell with the Lions in 2020/21, winning their Fans' Player of the Season award.

He subsequently moved to Spennymoor Town in the summer of 2021 before joining South Shields two years later.

The Democratic Republic of Congo-born defender featured heavily for Shields in the National League North during the first half of last season, before an unexpected loan move in February saw him return to Spennymoor.

Now Lufudu's move to Nethermoor has been confirmed, as he joins a Guiseley side with their heart set on a return to the league above after a three-season hiatus.

“Guiseley need to get back to where they belong in the National North, and I want to be a part of helping them to achieve that. That is the ambition of everyone at the club," he said following the move.

"I will be back among friends, and with most of the signings having played for the club before, we should gel fairly quickly as a new team.

"We just need to work hard and demand high performances from each other. I cannot wait to get started.”
