Ex-Bury defender joins Matlock Town
Matlock Town have completed the signing of defender Aiden Walker from Bury.
Walker joined the Shakers from Farsley Celtic in January 2025 and was part of the squad crowned champions of the NPL West Division last season.
However, he has spent the majority of the last 12 months on the sidelines after undergoing shoulder surgery, only making his return to action for Bury in their FA Cup victory over Wythenshawe last weekend.
On Wednesday evening, Bury announced that Walker had left the club by mutual consent in order to pursue regular first-team football.
Paying tribute to the outgoing defender, Shakers boss Anthony Johnson said: "We both feel it’s the right time for him to find regular football and get himself back to where he was a couple of years ago.
"I’d like to thank him for all of his efforts at the club. He’s been an absolute pleasure to work with, and I wish him nothing but success and health for the future.”
The 26-year-old represented Mansfield Town, Brighouse Town and Guiseley, prior to moving to Farsley.
The defender, who began his career with Barnsley, now links up with a Matlock side currently fourth in the NPL East Division.
The Gladiators are next in action on Saturday, at home to Nuneaton Town in FA Trophy second round qualifying.
