Evans frustrated by player search

Romulus update, by Andy Mitchell

ROMULUS manager Richard Evans was left frustrated in his search for reinforcements this week as he prepares his squad for a tricky looking trip to Coalville Town.

Evans trawled five games looking to boost his options for a difficult run-in, but saw nothing that would improve his squad for the final seven games.

The Roms boss said: “For now we will go with what we’ve got – we have been looking to boost things with a fresh face as it can give you some momentum, but there is no emergency because we know we have quality in the squad.

“We’ve got be looking up rather than down the table – the league is tight that two or three wins could see us climb to mid-table so we are looking to get three points on the board.”

Romulus will have to be at their best in Leicestershire this weekend as newly promoted Coalville have hit form, stringing together an eight match unbeaten run and shipping just three goals.

Evans’ men thrashed the Ravens 4-1 at Coles Lane earlier this season, but the scorer of all four goals that day, Marvin Johnson, has since moved on to Kidderminster Harriers, and Evans expects a different encounter this time around.

“Away from home it is always different – it will be a tough game like all the others and we’ll be looking to get what we can out of it.

“They’re a good passing side and it will be a good test – the manager there has done well and settled into this league in the end. It is tough to settle at this level because it is a big jump.”

Evans expects to be without injured duo Gavin Day (ankle) and Richard Evans Jnr (knee), but defender Luke Edwards remains in contention for a place in the squad.
