Emergency meeting after fresh blow
EVO-STIK League Market Drayton Town are looking for a new chairman and vice chairman just six days after the departure of manager Carl Abbott.
The Gingerbread Men were plunged into further uncertainty on Monday after chairman Ben Cookham and vice-chairman Rupert Dyke stood down from their committee less than a week after the departure of former Hinckley boss Abbott, pictured below, after less than three months at the helm.
Officials at the EVO-STIK League South club have called an emergency meeting for concerned fans at the Greenfields Sports Ground on Tuesday night to discuss their future with director of football and interim manager Mick Murphy set to lead a question and answer session following the fresh blow.
The Shropshire club’s remaining directors should be in attendance and a club spokesman said: "There will be an urgent open meeting at the Market Drayton Town clubhouse at 6.30pm on Tuesday. Caretaker manager Mick Murphy will lead a Q&A session for those who have an interest in the future of the club. Your attendance is vital."
Avid fans and airline pilots Cookham and Dyke were appointed just over a year ago before announcing they were standing down with immediate effect. Abbott left club officials looking for their third manager of the season after standing down as the first manager of phoenix club Hinckley in October to succeed the axed Martyn Davies.
For more information on the vacant posts, including the manager's position, interested parties and potential candidates should contact club secretary Rod Pope via email at: [email protected].
