Doncaster Rovers midfielder returns to Mickleover

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Liam Ravenhill has returned to Mickleover FC on loan for two months.

Ravenhill is the son of Sports assistant manager Ricky, and has had recent spell in Doncaster’s league one line-up.

The 19-year-old began his career in Doncaster Rovers' academy in 2011, before beginning a two-year scholarship with the club in 2019.

The 19-year-old made cup appearances last season for the Rovers including a debut in the first round of the FA cup against FC United of Manchester, where Rovers won 5-1.

Ravenhill also made his league debut earlier this season when he came off the bench against Shrewsbury Town.

The youngster impressed so much that he just had to wait 16 more days after this to make his first league start, of which came against Sunderland.

He has recently signed a new two-year-deal at Doncaster but will be moving to Mickleover to gain quality minutes to further his progress.

Mickleover have struggled so far in this years’ Northern Premier League campaign as they currently sit 18th in the league table.

The Northern Premiership side have the second worst defensive record in the league and have struggled to maintain consistency throughout the season.

However, the league table may suggest their season is going, they’ve certainly had a contrasting start to the new year.

It’s a maximum of nine points out of their last three games to open in the new year for the Mickleover, just what they need if they are to flip the narrative of their season and revive any chance of a top half finish.

Exciting signings such as Liam Ravenhill should prove to be good business for the Northern Premiership side as young talent such as himself will be thrilled with the opportunity to make a name for himself.

This will certainly help should he assist Mickleover in transforming their season around.

Mickleover’s next fixture is an away trip to Stalybridge Celtic tomorrow afternoon at 3.00pm where they will be hoping to carry on their impressive run of form.
