Defensive duo join Atherton Collieries
Atherton Collieries have signed defenders Jordan Boon and Ciaran Summers.
Boon returns to the Skuna Stadium after a spell with Wythenshawe Town.
He previously donned the Colls Stripes during a short-term loan deal from Bolton Wanderers at the beginning of 2020, before departing to pursue professional football opportunities with IFK Östersund in Sweden.
Returning to England upon the cancellation of the 2019/20 season, he went on to represent National League North outfit Spennymoor, alongside further overseas opportunities with Banyule City in Australia.
Last season, Boon made 28 appearances for Wythenshawe Town as they recorded a record-high league finish in the NWCFL. He also made six appearances at Poynton, scoring once.
“I’m buzzing to be back," Boon said. "The last time was a short stint but I settled in very well, and I can’t wait to get going again and be apart of this exciting journey.
“The togetherness at the club is what I’m looking forward to and excites me the most, plus playing in-front of the fans and to start loving my football again. I feel this is the place to be for that."
Joining him at Colls next season is Scottish full-back Summers.
He spent seven years within the Glasgow Rangers academy before establishing himself within senior football at Stenhousemuir & Queens Park, amassing a combined total of 175 appearances over seven years for the two clubs.
Summers relocated to Manchester following a spell playing for Veenendaal’s Voetbalvereniging Door Ons Vrienden Opgericht in the Netherlands, making 19 appearances for Hyde United after signing midway through the 2021/22 season.
This was followed by 24 games for Stalybridge Celtic during the last campaign.
Colls boss David Chadwick said: “Ciaran is another player with lots of experience, and we are made up to bring him here.
"From our conversations, his passion to just want to play football shone through, and he’s another great addition."
