Danny Moss appointed Wythenshawe boss

Wythenshawe have announced former assistant Danny Moss as their new manager.

Moss served as assistant to Shane Goldrick, who stepped down at the end of December after leading the club to back-to-back title-winning campaigns.

The Ammies have risen from Step 6 to Step 4 of the non-league pyramid, but their start to life in the NPL West Division has been difficult.

The club have won just six of their opening 25 league games and reside in the bottom four, five points from safety.

Earlier this month they announced the appointment of James Kinsey - only for the former Stalybridge Celtic boss to resign from the role within a matter of days.

The club have now turned to a familiar figure in Moss, whose "tactical acumen, leadership qualities and ability to inspire players" have been highlighted upon his appointment.

“My best memories and moments in football have come at Wythenshawe, so when the opportunity arose to return, I was obviously delighted," he said.

"I know how much the club means to the staff, fans and the community, so myself, the management team and the players will be giving everything we have to get us to where we want to be, come the end of April."

Moss' first game back in the dugout will come away at Newcastle Town on Saturday.
