Corby Town improve defence with Spencer Edwards capture
Corby Town have announced the signing of centre-back Spencer Edwards from fellow NPL Midlands Division side Hinckley LRFC.
Edwards played a key role for Hinckley last season, featuring 42 times as they reached the play-off semi-finals before falling to eventual play-off winners Harborough Town, now of the Southern League.
Corby manager Gary Setchell believes that signing Edwards can help his side push further towards the play-off picture in the NPL Midlands Division following an eighth-placed finish last time around.
He said: “His experience at this level and defensive ability was a major part of Hinckley making the play-offs last season. He will be key as we aim for success this season.”
The newest Steelman expressed his delight at signing, saying: “I am happy to have joined the group. The club has a great set up and amazing support, and I look forward to getting started.”
Corby Town begin their pre-season schedule away at Wisbech Town on July 6.
