Corby Town fend off interest for in-form striker

Corby Town forward Fletcher Toll has signed a new deal, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The club say that Toll, who joined from Downham Town over the summer, has been the subject of interest from teams higher in the football pyramid, but that they have fought off interest to tie down their talented frontman.

The 20-year-old striker has already netted 17 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions this season for the Steelmen, firing them to the top of the NPL Midlands Division table.

He netted 40 goals in 53 games at Step 5 last season and has continued his fine scoring form at the level above.

On the decision to stay at Steel Park, he said: "I feel the start to the season for myself has been very good, and I think I’ve hit the ground running.

"I also think my link-up play with the team around me has been good. Getting to know new players can always take time, but I think everyone has adapted to each other quickly.

"As a team I think we have had a phenomenal start to the season. We know we have to continue the good form.

"We have a good group of players who are all pushing each other to do better."
