Chiekh Thiam the man for Avro
Avro have announced the signing of young right-back Chiekh Thiam on a permanent basis.
The 22-year-old impressed during the club's recent pre-season friendlies and has done enough to land a deal with the side that finished eighth in the NPL West Division last season.
Thiam previously spent two years on the books of Fleetwood Town, starting in their development squad before featuring three times for their first team - his League One debut coming against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Following his departure from Fleetwood in the summer of 2023, the versatile defender joined FC United of Manchester and made seven appearances for the club before finding himself on the move again, this time to Warrington Rylands.
He featured a further six times for the Blues last season but was released in November.
Thiam secured a short-term move to Avro in March, ending the season with the club and playing 10 games in total.
On his permanent arrival, the defender said: “I’ve enjoyed it since I’ve come here, and the squad has helped me get back fit.
“It is good to be able to say that I am enjoying my football again.
“I can’t wait to start the season with the lads and hopefully have a successful campaign under the new managers.”
Avro first team matchday secretary Mark Hutton said: “He came into the team at the back end of the campaign and made a big contribution with some great performances.
“We are looking forward to seeing him over a full season.”
