Chester left-back joins Hednesford Town

Hednesford Town have announced the signing of Joel Taylor from Chester FC.

The 28-year-old left-back is a former Stoke City Academy graduate who made his professional debut on loan for Rochdale against Bristol Rovers in League One in 2017.

After his release from the Potters, Taylor joined Kidderminster Harriers where he made 56 appearances over the course of two seasons.

In 2019, he made a move to Chester and quickly became a fan favourite at the DEVA Stadium, going on to feature 49 times for the Seals and earning a spot in the 2019/20 Vanarama National League North Team of the Season.

The defender made the move up to the National League with Chesterfield and Notts County and enjoyed spells at Dagenham & Redbridge and Wealdstone on loan before returning to Chester in May 2023.

In a statement about Taylor's move to the club, a Hednesford Town spokesperson said: "The football department has been hard at work and our new, incoming manager has been instrumental in getting Joel’s signing over the line.

"Everyone at Hednesford Town FC is delighted to have Joel on board and can’t wait to see him grace the Keys Park turf next season."
