Boyle swaps Brighouse for Pontefract

Pontefract Collieries have announced the signing of forward Jack Boyle from Brighouse Town.

A former Huddersfield academy player, Boyle joined Brighouse Town in 2020 and has made 94 appearances for the West Yorkshire club.

The 25-year-old was the club’s top goalscorer last season with 12 goals, earning him the Player’s Player of the Year and Fan’s Player of the Year awards.

Prior to his move to Brighouse, Boyle enjoyed two spells at Scottish League Two side Clyde United before moving back home to join Northern Counties East League side Thackley AFC.

On his move to Pontefract Collieries, Boyle said: "It's something that came up straight after the season ended and the gaffer rang me saying he's keen to sign me and I was keen on the move.

"We got a deal done which took a little bit of time, but in the end, it worked out for everyone. I'm excited about coming into a new ream which looks to be very strong, which is good as I'm expecting to push for promotion this year.

"Obviously I've been on the other side for the past few years, but I felt like I needed a new challenge and Pontefract looked like the perfect place to come and play.

"It's been fun battling with Pontefract over the years, but now I'm here, I'm looking to cause issues for other teams. I'm looking to follow on from the good season I had last year, create chances for the forward players and also grab a few goals along the way."
