Bootle bring in experienced shot-stopper
Experienced goalkeeper Sam Ashton has joined Bootle.
Ashton, whose career began with then-Sam Alladryce's Bolton Wanderers, returns to the Berry Street Garage Stadium having spent most of last season with Skelmersdale United in the Pitching In NPL West Division.
He started the 2022/23 campaign with Bootle and made 16 appearances in league and cup before moving on to Skelmersdale.
The 36-year-old has represented several clubs across the non-league pyramid throughout his career, including FC United of Manchester, Southport, Chorley, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom United, Kendal Town, and Macclesfield, with whom he won the NWCFL in 2021/22.
He becomes the second goalkeeper to join the club this week, with former Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Owen Mooney also signing on the dotted line as preparations continue ahead of the upcoming campaign.
