Boardroom return for Brookbanks
Former Coalville Town manager Tommy Brookbanks will be back in the EVO-STIK League next season but at boardroom level.
The former Carlton Town, Stamford and Quorn manager was unveiled as the new vice-chairman of EVO-STIK League South champions Basford United on Friday, just over a week after standing down at Coalville Town following his side's defeat to Atherton Collieries in the final of the Integro League Cup.
The experienced Brookbanks, a former Basford United player, arrived at Greenwich Avenue as the Nottingham-based club prepare to play at the highest level in their history when the 2018-19 season kicks off in August.
Basford United chairman Chris Munroe told fans: “I am delighted to appoint Tom. I had no hesitation in appointing him to this new crucial role once I had met him several times. The club is really ready to embrace the challenges over the next few years and Tom will play a vital role in this."
Brookbanks, pictured, said: "It was clear to me that this was a perfect fit not only to come back to my roots in Nottingham, but also to commence another excellent period in the club’s history. I’m delighted to be back at Basford and looking forward to the journey."
