Betts back at Basford

Betts back at Basford

Basford United have announced the re-signing of defender Owen Betts.

The 22-year-old suffered an ankle injury during a training session with the Lions back in March, which forced him out of action for over two months.

His rehabilitation period extended past his contract expiration, however, Basford offered their full support to Betts who has now penned a new deal following the end of his recovery phase.

A former Notts County youth player, he initially joined the club in 2020 and became a key component of Basford United’s backline prior to his injury.

On his return, Betts said: “It’s been a long time. I’m feeling good to go and it’s nice to be back.

“It’s been a tough journey mentally, it’s been hard to get to grips with how long I was going to be out for.

“I’ve been told by my physio that I should be back in three to four weeks and it’s nice to hear that I’ll be getting some minutes so I’m training hard to get to that point.

“I’ve kept in contact with the club throughout the recovery. James Jepson [Basford United manager] got in contact with me a few weeks ago and that was really nice to hear so it’s great to be back at Basford.”
