Angell arrives at Basford United
Former Sheffield United defender Tom Angell has joined Basford United.
The 19-year-old full-back has impressed throughout pre-season and started the club's last three friendly wins against Frickley Athletic, North Ferriby and Chesterfield.
Angell had previously progressed through the Blades ranks, eventually signing a two-year scholarship deal.
He would feature heavily for their U18s side and went on to make his U23s debut against Cardiff City last season.
During his time at Bramall Lane, he spent valuable time on loan in the National League North with both Bradford Park Avenue and Spennymoor Town before his release.
Discussing the move, assistant manager Luke Potter said: “Tom has done really well in the last few games, and you can tell he’s played at a higher level with that touch of class and the sharpness he has.
“He’s not the tallest defender you’ll see but he’s strong as an ox and is deceptively good in the air.
"After speaking with those at Sheffield United, they had high hopes for him when he came through but, for one reason or another, it didn’t quite work out up there.
“With the ability to go forward as well as he can defend, we’re delighted to have him on board.
"He’s still young but can benefit from those alongside him and it really will be exciting to see him progress.”
