Altrincham defender arrives at Witton Albion on loan

Witton Albion have confirmed the loan signing of centre back Joel Bailey from National League side Altrincham.

He becomes the first player brought in by caretaker manager Ben Harrison, after Jon Macken and Steve Atkinson departed the club on July 30.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with Alty in the summer, and was a feature in six pre-season friendlies for his parent club this season.

After impressing manager Phil Parkinson, he believes that a loan move is more beneficial for Bailey’s progression.

He said: “We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to get Joel a loan to Witton Albion. A club who should help him develop and grow Joel to the levels he needs to get to be closer to the Altrincham first team.

“We’ve had success in recent seasons with our loans. Hopefully this is another one where we can help a player get to where he wants to be.”

Bailey will be available to make his debut when Witton Albion host City of Liverpool on August 10.
