Lawler returns to the Lions ahead of new season

Guiseley have confirmed the signing of Jake Lawlor, as the centre-back returns to the club following his departure from National League North side Darlington.

The 33-year-old spent five years at Nethermoor between 2013 and 2018, which included 99 National League appearances in his final three seasons.

Since his departure from Guiseley to Salford City, Lawlor has made appearances for Wrexham and has had brief spells in League 2 with Harrogate Town and Hartlepool United.

He spent the last three seasons at Darlington, making 98 National League North appearances, scoring 6 goals.

On returning to his former side, Lawlor said: “The main pull for me to come back was the return of Bows [Mark Bower] and Bosh [Danny Boshell]. What we did previously together was good. I cannot wait to get started again.

“The main aim for all of us is to gain promotion and that looks very achievable. I know quite a few of the lads and the club have not disappointed in their recruitment,” he added.

Lawlor could make his second debut for Guiseley when they host League 1 side Huddersfield Town to kick off their pre-season on July 6.
