Three new arrivals at Dunston

Dunston have continued their summer recruitment drive, with three new players joining the club in the space of 24 hours.

Left-back Chris McDonald, midfielder David Robinson and versatile youngster JJ Chrisp have all penned deals at Wellington Road ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The trio were previously all together at fellow Pitching In NPL East Division side North Shields.

McDonald, 29, has spent the last five seasons at the club and played a pivotal part in their promotion to the Northern Premier League in 2021/22.

"I am over the moon to be here," he said.

"Dunston is a club that has always competed and that is something that I am eager to be a part of.

"The goal is to win the league. With the side that we have here at Dunston, there is no reason why we can't."

Robinson, meanwhile, adds energy in the engine room.

Prior to his time at North Shields, he had spells at Newcastle Benfield, Seaham Red Star and Blyth AFC, wearing the captain's armband for the latter two.

"I think it was the right time for a new challenge and having worked with Jon [McDonald, manager] previously made the decision an easy one," he said.

"I am an energetic midfielder who will give everything. This season, we have got to be pushing at the top of the league and take this club to the next level without a doubt.

"On a personal level, I would like to contribute as much as possible and hopefully chip in with some goals."

Finally, Chrisp developed well in his 29 appearances for North Shields last season and has now been confirmed as Dunston's fifth summer acquisition.

"When Jon first got in touch, I was thankful to be given the opportunity to join a great club.

"The club is steeped in history and a great place to come. I played against Dunston last season when I was with Shields and they were a tough team to play against with a lot of talent in the squad, so the decision to join was an easy one."
