Quartet of signings at Nantwich

Paul Carden has bolstered his squad with four new additions as they move forward with their 2023/24 campaign.

Firstly, the club have announced the signing of young midfielder Kai Evans from Wrexham.

The 19-year-old, who started in Stoke City's academy, was awarded his first professional contract with Wrexham in July 2022.

He was also the top goalscorer in the National League Youth Alliance.

On the signing, Nantwich Town manager Paul Carden said: "Kai’s someone who’s been on our radar for some time. He’s been injured for a while, it set him back, but you can clearly see in training and the game’s he’s played the ability he has.

"He played for Wrexham last season so if that doesn’t speak volumes about his quality then nothing else will. It’s up to us to work together to get him back to the level he was at and hopefully help us."

Joining him at the Dabbers for this season is Lewis Sinnott who joins on loan from Warrington Town.

Like Paddy Kay, Sinnott, 21, was recently announced as a Warrington Town player before joining Paul Carden's side to continue their development.

The young defender has previously played for the likes of Burscough, Bootle and Litherland REMCYA.

Finally, the club have also announced the acquisition of brothers Mohamud Ali and Ahmed Ali.

The pair are Somalian international footballers, with the pair being capped eight times.

Mohamud, 29, is a defender who has previously played under Paul Carden during their time at Warrington Town.

After recovering from a cruciate knee injury in September 2021 which has ruled him out for the majority of the previous two seasons, he joined Stalybridge Celtic towards the back end of last season.

He has also played for the likes of Curzon Ashton and Southport.

Ahmed Ali, 32, will also be joining his brother at the Cheshire-based club.

The midfielder was most recently plying his trade at Halesowen Town, but has a wealth of footballing experience from his time abroad with Alphenese Boys, Jong ADO Den Haag, CVV de Jodan Boys, Rijnsburgse Boys and also in the UK with Northwich Victoria, Sheffield, Bromsgrove Sporting and Redditch United.

On the signing of the duo, Carden said: I knew Mo from Warrington, he was unlucky to pick up a cruciate injury as he was doing really well at the time.

"After his rehab he played a few games for Stalybridge and he looks as strong and aggressive as he’s been before. He’s a real tough competitor, versatile across the back-line and he’ll add to what we’ve got in defence because he’s a top lad as well.

"Ahmed is somebody I’ve known of but not seen a lot of as he’s played a lot of football in the Midlands, in the Southern Central Division which is a tough league.

"He came to training with us and looked fit, strong, competitive, he’s left-footed and more of a defence-minded midfielder which is something we didn’t have in the squad.”
