Mike Thompson appointed Bridlington Town manager
Bridglington Town have announced the return of Mike Thompson as manager, following the resignation of former boss Denny Ingram.
Ingram was promoted from assistant to first team manager over the summer.
But after a run of just six wins in 17 games, he has stepped down from the role in favour of managing the club’s new scholarship programme.
Thompson arrives with the Seasiders second-bottom in the NPL East Division, two points from safety. Nevertheless, they have a game in hand on most of the teams immediately above them in the table.
Thompson is a familiar face around Queensgate, as both a player and a manager.
During his playing days, Thompson notched over 200 appearances for the club. He went on to enjoy a seven-month stint as manager during the 2022/23 season, stepping down with the side in eighth.
Bridlington Town CEO Gavin Branton said: “I have known Thomo for many years. He has always impressed [me] with his passion and never-say-die attitude.
“I enjoyed working with Mike during his last managerial run with us, and I very much look forward to his return.
“He is a young, forward-thinking coach who will use and analyse every possible tool at his disposal to improve the squad.”
Thompson’s first game in charge will be on January 10, when Bridlington travel to fellow strugglers Ossett United.
