James Kinsey makes Wythenshawe managerial U-turn

Wythenshawe have announced that newly-appointed manager James Kinsey has resigned from his role.

The news comes just days after the former Stalybridge Celtic boss took over from Shane Goldrick, who left the club over the festive period having led them to back-to-back promotions from Step 6 to Step 4 of the non-league pyramid.

No official reason has been given for Kinsey's departure, with the club confirming on Wednesday night that they had "reluctantly accepted" his resignation.

Wythenshawe, who are currently third-bottom of the NPL West Division, return to action on Saturday when Hednesford Town visit Hollyhedge Park.

Kinsey previously took charge of Wythenshawe Town during a five-year spell, prior to taking the reins at Stalybridge, and has vowed to make a return to management "whenever the right opportunity presents itself".

Taking to social media, he said: "Unfortunately, I have decided to walk away from the opportunity at Wythenshawe.

"When I had interviewed for the position and accepted, there were things that I was unaware of that have now come to light.

"These are things that I feel should absolutely have been made known to us, to allow us to make a judgement on whether to accept the role.

“It's not my position to go into detail on this, and I wish Wythenshawe FC all the best for the future.”
