International round-up

A round-up of NPL stars during the October international window.

While the majority of the World took part in World Cup qualifying, four matches over in the CONCACAF Nations League saw players from the Northern Premier League represent their sides in the League B contests.

Those matches also doubled up as part of the Gold Cup qualifying process - the North American equivalent of the UEFA European Championship.

The most successful of the sides were Bermuda, with Walsall Wood goalkeeper Dale Eve and Rugby Town's Roger Lee taking six points against Dominica with both a 6-1 away win and 3-2 home victory.

Eve played all 180 minutes across both games while Lee was replaced in the away game with 15 minutes left - a match where former NPL striker Kole Hall grabbed the winner for the Gombey Warriors.

Bermuda currently sit second in a group which features the Dominican Republic, who currently sit three points ahead of the rest and face on the final matchday to potentially decide not only the group, but an automatic spot for the 2025 Gold Cup on the East Coast of America, also doubling up as the test event for the 2026 World Cup.

Bermuda could also finish second and reach a play-off against sides in Division A and C.

Josh Solomon Davies of Atherton Collieries also had a successful week, but he only featured for 30 minutes in a 2-1 win for St Lucia against St Martin in Group B.

He failed to come off the bench in their 4-0 defeat in the reverse tie.

St Lucia remain top by two points but will face the heavily favoured Curacao to hold on to automatic qualification and promotion to the A Division.

Like Bermuda, they also have the advantage of a play-off spot, should they not make the finals by topping the group.
For the other two sides, it was the end of the qualification road and also potential of relegation to the C league.

For Montserrat, managed by former Leeds United legend Lee Bowyer, Jamie Allen was brought off the bench in their 1-0 defeat to Bonaire.

Sporting Khalsa's Isai Marselia had second-half appearances in the two matches for Aruba against a strong Haiti side, with a 30-minute appearance in the 3-1 loss and a 10-minute spell for the 5-3 away loss to the same opponents.

Montserrat remain a point off safety but face the top two sides in Group C, while Aruba must win both remaining matches while swinging a three-goal record to survive and have an automatic qualifying opportunity at the next Gold Cup.
