Grimsby Borough management duo agree long-term deals
Grimsby Borough have announced that manager Tom Claisse and assistant Danny East have signed deals to remain with the club for the next three seasons.
The duo took charge in February following the departure of the long-serving Dan Barrett.
Taking charge of the Wilderness Boys when they were 11th in the NPL East Division, the pair have led the club to a mid-table finish whilst also shifting to a more attacking philosophy and providing "clear direction, both on and off the pitch".
The club say Claisse and East have shown "alignment with the club's vision", adding that their "energy and structure" make them the right choice to continue in the role on a long-term basis.
Barrett, who the pair succeeded, had been in charge for almost a decade, overseeing more than 500 games.
He led the club's rise from the bottom of the Lincolnshire Football League to Step 4 of the football pyramid, winning two league titles during their former boss' tenure.
"I’m really pleased that Tom and Danny have committed their futures to Grimsby Borough for the next three seasons," chairman Jason Flint said.
"Since arriving at the club in February, they have brought a real sense of direction, organisation, and belief during what has been a challenging transitional period for everyone involved.
"It’s been clear to see the improvement in performances on the pitch, but just as importantly, they’ve worked hard behind the scenes to build the right environment and culture within the squad.
"They understand what we are trying to achieve as a football club and share our vision for moving Grimsby Borough forward to be competitive within the NPL.
"Stability is important as we continue to build, and securing Tom and Danny gives us a strong platform heading into next season.
"They have built a strong relationship with Dave Smith [director of football], and I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with them as we prepare for the challenges ahead.
"On a personal note, I’d like to congratulate Tom on securing the job. I know how Tom works, but it’s incredibly pleasing to see how the board, players, staff and supporters have enjoyed and embraced his approach since coming in."
